Well gang its mid summer and time for a little reflection on what is going on at Otter Brook. Couple things come to mind.
Membership
73 paid members! More members than we have tags. More members than I would ever have guessed 4 years ago. I chalk this up to having a club worth being a member of, having a course worth supporting and people that understand that free courses are not really free and are willing to support that.
Thats a great combo!
The Course
What do I even say? It is absolutely gorgeous.
Ways to play
We are in a very interesting time as far as ways to play goes. Tournament attendance seems down from last year. I used to take that personally, but the reality is that there are just so many options to play and only so many weekends in a summer. But at local level, leagues and local play are doing great! A strong Sunday league, 2 leagues on Wednesday, (A Wednesday morning league...really?) bracket play, tag call outs, mob golf and just a good old fashioned round with friends. I think that Otter Brook will keep doing what its doing, present quality events that people hopefully want to come too. And a reminder...All of these events were started by players that had never run an event before. They saw something they wanted to do and did it. Derek Dussault and Mr Sippys,(and wig round and the only glow round and vendor events etc etc), Bob and Mike with Solstice Scrambles and Summer of Dubz, PH3 and Wednesday night Dubz, Derek Decoste and Clark with our fall fundraiser for Monadnock Conservancy. They had an idea for a fun tourney and made it happen. You have an idea? We will help you make it happen too!
The Women of Otter Brook
One of the more notable changes I have noticed at Otter Brook this summer is the number of women playing! I believe we had 7 women at Trilogy Challenge, and we seem to have a solid group of women coming to Sunday league. Hopefully there is a women's tournament coming to OB in the future!
