League:
(1) : an association of persons or groups united by common interests or goals.
So pretty loose definition...league, and being in a league can mean a lot of different things. For Otter Brook I think league means more formal/organized. We have casual rounds, mob rounds, tag rounds, practice rounds and league rounds. League for us also usually means money. Money to pay out, money for Ace Pot, money for the club.
Sunday league which was once almost always random dubz has become more competitive and more score/tag oriented. But then we had folks that felt like donors every week. So we talked about A/B pools. Honestly I think we will get there soon, but for now we dont think we are up for the dedication of managing that.
So what we came up with so folks dont feel like donors, but still want to play with the gang on Sundays is opting out. The deal is if you want to play for money, you still bring your 5$. If not you are in for 2$. 1$ for ace pot, and 1$ for the club.
This is league line up for 2018.
Sunday morning 9:30am. This will be stroke play for money and tag...EXCEPT last Sunday of the month is random dubz. This goes from April 1 till sometime in October. Usually when late fall winter rolls in, we do random dubz just about every Sunday.
Wednesday mornings. This is a new one. While the park is open (Memorial Day to Labor Day), Wednesday mornings (time TBD) will be competitive 5$ buy in. No opt out. You may even see some side bets. Possibly trash talking. Wednesday morning will have its own Ace Pot.
Wednesday evenings. Will be running this summer when the park is open. This is for fun random dubz. No cash just meet some folks and play! (Time TBD)
Wednesday evenings. From April 4th to May 23rd we will be doing 1025 putting at Sesame St. This will be a great warm up for the upcoming summer! Look for details on Facebook in the coming weeks.
People ask, "why these times and formats"? Its because someone said "lets do this"! Simple as that. You want to do a different day, different format...we would love to see it.
Anyway, thats what is going on for leagues this summer. Look forward to seeing you out there!
